DELL PowerEdge R260 Rack Server Product Description
The DELL PowerEdge R260 is a short-depth, 1U single-socket rack server specifically designed for environments with space constraints, making it an ideal choice for Near-Edge deployments, Remote Office/Branch Office (ROBO) locations, and Small to Mid-sized Businesses (SMBs) seeking a blend of flexibility, performance, and affordability.
Processor and Performance
The server is powered by a single processor supporting the latest Intel Xeon E-2400 series or the Intel Xeon 6 6300 series, which offers up to 8 cores of compute power. It incorporates modern DDR5 ECC UDIMM memory, providing high-speed data access with support for up to 128 GB across four DIMM slots, enabling it to efficiently handle applications like mailing, messaging, and data sharing.
Compact Design and Storage
One of the R260’s primary features is its short-depth chassis, allowing it to be installed in shallow racks common in smaller IT closets or remote sites. Despite its compact size, it offers flexible storage configurations:
- It can support up to six 2.5-inch hot-plug SAS/SATA drives for high density.
- Alternatively, it can be configured with two 3.5-inch cabled drives.
- For optimized boot functionality and separation from data storage, it supports the Boot Optimized Storage Subsystem (BOSS-N1) with dual M.2 NVMe SSDs.
- I/O expansion includes two PCIe Gen4 slots (one x16 and one x8, both low-profile) for network or HBA cards.
Management and Enterprise Features
The R260 is built with enterprise reliability in mind. It is managed by the integrated iDRAC9 (Integrated Dell Remote Access Controller), offering comprehensive, full-strength remote management capabilities for monitoring, deployment, and security. The server supports a single, non-redundant power supply option (up to 700W Titanium) and is protected by Dell’s Cyber Resilient Architecture features, including Secure Boot and TPM 2.0, to ensure a secure and reliable IT foundation. It can also be ordered with a filter bezel to help protect the hardware from dust and foreign particles, enhancing its durability in non-data-center environments.
