DELL PowerEdge R360 Rack Server Product Description
The DELL PowerEdge R360 is a robust, 1U single-socket rack server designed to provide essential compute power, flexible storage, and advanced management for growing businesses, remote offices, and edge computing applications.
Core Architecture and Performance
At its core, the R360 is powered by a single processor socket that supports the latest generation of Intel Xeon E-2400 series or the more powerful Intel Xeon 6300 series processors, offering up to 8 cores for reliable application processing. It features modern architecture with four DDR5 DIMM slots, accommodating ECC Unbuffered DIMM (UDIMM) memory for a maximum capacity of 128 GB and transfer speeds up to 4400 MT/s, ensuring fast and efficient performance for workloads like virtualization and data processing.
Storage, Expansion, and Reliability
The R360 provides excellent storage flexibility within its 1U chassis. It can be configured to support either four 3.5-inch hot-plug SAS/SATA drives (up to 64 TB) or eight 2.5-inch hot-plug SAS/SATA SSDs (up to 61.44 TB). For the operating system, it supports the Boot Optimized Storage Subsystem (BOSS-N1), which uses hardware RAID with dual M.2 NVMe SSDs to separate the boot volume from data storage, enhancing system reliability and speed.
Expansion capabilities include support for two PCIe Gen4 slots, allowing for high-speed network cards or advanced RAID controllers. Significantly, the R360 also supports an entry-level accelerator like a single 60W GPU (e.g., NVIDIA A2), which is suitable for tasks like AI inferencing and VDI in edge environments.
The server emphasizes reliability and availability with support for dual, hot-plug, redundant power supplies (up to 700W Titanium or 600W Platinum), ensuring continuous operation for business-critical applications.
Management and Security
System management is streamlined through the embedded iDRAC9 (Integrated Dell Remote Access Controller), which provides comprehensive remote monitoring, diagnostics, and configuration management. The R360 is also built on Dell’s Cyber Resilient Architecture, integrating advanced security features like cryptographically signed firmware, Secure Boot, and TPM 2.0 to protect against modern threats and establish a foundation for a Zero Trust environment.
